Urea is a nitrogenous fertilizer which is essential in wheat crop for its growth and development. The most important function of urea in wheat crop is its ability to initiate tillers. Tillering might be enhanced by using urea at proper time.
Urea fertilizer is applied at first irrigation to increase tillering. Second irrigation fertilizer is asked by our growers. Urea is the fertilizer which needs to be applied at second irrigation as well. The best timing for urea application is at tillering stage and at 50 to 55 days crop age. Urea fertilizer should not be applied after this. Late urea application cause lodging in wheat field which results in low yield or shrinked grains.
