Assalamoalaikom EveryOne,
Indeed, the **10th of Muharram**, also known as **Yawm-e-Ashura**, is one of the most sacred and spiritually significant days in the Islamic calendar. It carries deep historical, religious, and emotional meaning for **both Sunni and Shia Muslims**—for different but deeply interwoven reasons.
Here are *three major events* that are associated with the **10th of Muharram**:
---
🌟 *1. The Victory of Prophet Musa (Moses, AS) over Pharaoh*
*Event:* On this day, *Allah saved Prophet Musa (AS)* and the *Children of Israel* from the tyranny of *Pharaoh (Fir‘awn)* by **parting the Red Sea**.
*Significance:* To commemorate this divine deliverance, *the Jews would fast**, and when the **Prophet Muhammad ﷺ* came to Madinah, he said:
*“We have more right to Musa than them.”*
— (Sahih al-Bukhari)
The Prophet ﷺ then encouraged **fasting on the 10th of Muharram**, and later added the 9th (Tasu’a) as well to **distinguish from the Jewish practice**.
---
💔 *2. The Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) at Karbala*
*Event:* In *61 AH (680 CE)**, on the plains of **Karbala**, **Imam Hussain ibn Ali (RA)**, the grandson of the Prophet ﷺ, along with his family and companions, was **martyred* by the army of Yazid.
*Significance:* This tragic event marks one of the **most heart-wrenching and defining moments in Islamic history**, symbolizing:
*The stand for truth against oppression*
*Sacrifice for deen over dunya*
*The love of the Prophet ﷺ for his family (Ahl al-Bayt)*
It is a day of *mourning and reflection**, particularly in **Shia Islam**, but deeply respected by many **Sunnis* as well.

☁️ *3. Historical Blessings and Other Prophetic Events (as per narrations)*
Several scholars and narrations mention that other significant events may also have occurred on Ashura. While the authenticity varies, they are commonly cited for reflection:
*Prophet Nuh’s (AS) Ark* came to rest on Mount Judi.
*Prophet Adam (AS)* was forgiven by Allah on this day.
*Prophet Ibrahim (AS)* was saved from the fire of Nimrod.
*Prophet Yunus (AS)* was freed from the belly of the fish.
*Prophet Yusuf (AS)* was reunited with his father Yaqub (AS).
These events, though found in various Islamic historical sources, are meant to *emphasize the mercy, power, and justice of Allah* manifested on this sacred day.

🕊️ *What Should We Do on the 10th of Muharram?*
**Fasting**: The Prophet ﷺ recommended fasting on the **9th and 10th**, or **10th and 11th**, to gain spiritual reward.
"Fasting on the day of Ashura, I hope from Allah, expiates the sins of the past year." — (Sahih Muslim)
*Making Dua and Repentance*
*Reflecting on the legacy of Imam Hussain (RA)*
*Increasing in charity, prayer, and dhikr*

If you'd like, I can also provide a *sermon-style speech**, a **short story for children**, or a **poetic reflection* on Ashura. Just let me know!
