The tower is generally known under the name of ‘Pietje Potlood’ or ‘Het Zoutvat’. He is owned by the drinking water company Oasen and has the status of national monument since 2001. The water tank in the tower, has a capacity of 450 m3.
In 1977 the tower was restored, and was painted white instead of gray. Allegedly there was a thousand liters repair mortar and two hundred liters of white concrete paint used.
