In this video, I show how to create a leader and start spinning with the Scottish style dealgan- (jal-a-gen). The spindle I use is made by my husband in his Fern Wood shop. It is his design and incorporates a hook. If for some reason you either lose or break a hook- it can be replaced using 16 gauge wire- bent using needle nose pliers and glued with a good glue such as gorilla glue or E-6000. Stuff happens, and because of that we also recommend if spinning over a hard floor surface- have a soft landing place such as a rug, basket or folded towel to prevent damage to your spindle. Once you become a dept, you can take a walk while spinning on your dealagan- it's a happy mobile tool.
A note; The leader is spun clockwise- as are your singles (z twist).
I do not edit the videos- for a reason- so that the viewer can see my mistakes and also see how to correct them.
