The song “Dwellings of the Ancient Gods” captures the mysterious air given rise to by relics of the past. On the whole, the overall slow tempo of the tune develops a sense of investigation, almost like a tiptoe. Its echoes and gradual push and pull of the musical flow facilitate an undeniably eerie atmosphere. Unsettling as it is, the battle music helps plant the seeds of unease within the times of old. As the holy dwellings are further explored, it becomes clear that the perfect, heroic tales that Fódlan was founded upon are merely fiction; rather, Fódlan was built upon a bloodstained past. Yet history is long gone, locked away in the linearity of time, and what remains are simply timeworn fragments of lies. Curiosity abounds within the sacred grounds. From discoveries to epiphanies, the past is certainly not what it once seemed to be—in fact, it was far more than a tragedy. Led by corruption, such an impure background soils the foundations of Fódlan. One epiphany, however, stands above all else—that such corruption is uncannily familiar, still prevailing within the continent today. The melodies of the past echo in the present, just as depravity does not cease to rule. Disbelief prays for resolution, desperately seeking answers. Madness ensues in both the mind and the music. Without a doubt, the dwellings of the ancient gods must be examined further.
