Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Development Lebogang Maile has tabled a R179-billion provincial budget aimed at meeting various service delivery needs in the province.
Over 80% of the total budget over the next three years, will be geared towards health, education and social development. Despite major budget constraints characterised by slow economic growth, the Gauteng Province is expected to see economic growth of up to 2.1% in 2026 which is higher than the expected national growth. The Provincial Government has recorded a R3,6-billion budget growth compared to the previous year.
