Southport station (once known as Southport Chapel Street station) in its heyday saw trains from many different destinations enhanced by excursions at holiday times. Now the services to use this station are provided by Northern Rail to Manchester Victoria and Manchester Airport via Wigan and by Merseyrail to Hunts Cross via Liverpool.
