The 2025 UNESCO–Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) recognizes three outstanding projects from Benin, Brazil and Panama for their innovative, inclusive, and transformative approaches to education for sustainable development.
Funded by the Government of Japan, the Prize honours exceptional projects and programmes undertaken by institutions, organizations or other entities in the field of ESD. The three laureates were selected from 120 nominations submitted by UNESCO Member States and organizations in official partnership with UNESCO. An independent international jury of five ESD experts recognized the three initiatives for their excellence in advancing sustainability through education and community engagement.
