A Travel Vlog. Recently I travelled with my recycled teenager friends to Page Arizona USA to see the Antelope Canyon. It has been a dream to go there since I saw beautiful and colourful photos of the Antelope years back. Antelope Canyon is just 5 hours drive from Las Vegas. The Zion National Park and Valley of fire Park, both a must-see, are also on the way. We stopped at Zion on our way to Page AZ and to Valley of Fire on our way back.
On a Friday night, we flew directly to Las Vegas about 4.5 hours. We arrived before midnight local time, picked up a rental car and headed for a late-night special dinner at South Point Casino & Spa hotel. I couldn’t resist a 7 oz NY steak, eggs, hash browns and toast & jam for $4.95.
Early Saturday morning, we began our sightseeing drive to Page. But first, we had a big breakfast at IHOP restaurant. We drove about 3.5 - 4 hours to Zion Utah with a pit stop at Mesquite. At Zion, we couldn’t hike any of the trails for it requires more time, instead, we drove through the scenic zigzag route inside the park from the west gate to the east gate about an hour drive. We made a few stops to just enjoy the magnificent view. It was mesmerizing!
We arrived in Page Arizona before sundown. We headed to Horseshoe bend but was told that there’s about a mile hike to the canyon. Because we didn’t know what to expect on the hike and the sun is setting, we decided to go back the next day. We dined at a Navajo steak house before checking in to our pre-booked hotel.
Sunday morning was our 10 am tour of the Lower Antelope and at 2 pm is the Upper Antelope tour. Both areas are 10 miles from our hotel. Both required a Navajo guide. So it’s best to book online and select a time slot. The noontime slot is more popular and expensive because of the sunlight directly shining from above giving more lighting to the canyon. But even then, the canyon still gives out a beautiful glow in the morning and afternoon. After our tour of the antelope, we drove to horseshoe bend just before sunset. It was magnificent! All of it was so awesome. Our smiles can attest to that for we can’t help beaming until bedtime. God is so good for providing us with such beautiful natural work of arts.
Monday after breakfast, we drove back to Las Vegas and stopping at Valley of Fire National Park which is another sight Traveling in the wintertime is cheaper flight fares and plenty of seats. Travelling with friends means sharing of costs and abundance of joy and laughter let alone having someone to take a great photo of you 😆
