Klement Slavický, born in Tovačov in Moravia, was one of the best Czech composers of the 2nd half of the 20th century. This composition is marked with Albert Schweitzer's motto - "I call upon humanity to adopt the ethics of respect for life" - and dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the United Nations. The composer was awarded a gold memorial medal of the U.N. for the dedication.
