ANT vs WEMBY Got Everybody STUNNED...

The 2nd round of the playoffs tipped off in the least expected way…
So we gotta start in San Antonio where the Wolves got great news before the game about ANT’s return to action. But early on, Wemby hosted a block party and everyone was invited.
Ouuii that’s a french on french crime right there. Just 3 minutes into the game and the defensive player of the year already had 3 blocks. But even the Alien can’t catch ‘em all.
Randle stuffs the dunk at the buzzer before Wemby could reach it.
Regardless, the blockade continued in the 2nd quarter… Victor completed the Wolves trifecta! All 3 of Randle, Rudy and Reid got brutally denied at the rim. Get this, he had 7 blocks before halftime! That’s insane! It was the perfect time for challenging the quadruple double by his predecessor David Robinson. However, for every block on defense, he shot a brick on the offensive end… Yeah, Wembanyma couldn’t find his shooting rhythm at all in the 1st half, scoring only 6 points on 0 for 5 from downtown. On the contrary, ANT was back like he never left. Look at Edwards yelling at the Spurs bench “I’m back”! That move was smooth like butter.
He came off the bench like a surprising factor and the game was even at the break.
So, coming out of it, Wemby got Rudy yet again, but this time with a dunk on his head!
Damn, he's been torturing his fellow Frenchman ever since entering the league.
But those were his only points of the quarter, ‘cuz he couldn’t hit a shot from long-range to save his life. Luckily for the Spurs, Wembanyama can stay on the court and dominate a game just with his defensive presence. How do you get past this giant with such long arms…? Vic tied the all-time playoff record for most blocks before the 4th quarter even started. But they led by only 3 points, thanks to Keldon Johnson beating the buzzer with his running floater.
So, after being quiet for some time, ANT finally showed up in the final period.
Bang! Edwards nails his 2nd 3 of the quarter in Victor’s face to put ‘em up by 3. And watch how Randle extracts the shot blocker out of the paint, so ANT can work 1 on 1 against Champagnie. And then, after the pick’n’roll, Julius gets inside to anchor himself in front of Wembanyama, preventing him from getting up there to contest Edwards.
And when a guy like him gets in the zone, there’s not much you can do to stop him.

Meanwhile, the Wolves did their best to keep Wemby outside the paint on the other end as well.
Both McDaniels and Randle constantly wrestled, bumped, and stayed in front of the lanky giant, denying him the ball. And the others just couldn’t make a shot…De’Aaron Fox had only 10 points on 5 of 14 from the field to go along with 6 turnovers. Nothing was going their way entering the clutch. Even after the 12th block of the game by Victor, the Wolves stayed aggressive and ended up with a 3 by Conley to put them up by 9 points. And Anthony Edwards plays rock solid defense on Dylan Harper on the other side to get up there and reject his layup. Amazing! I gotta give huge props to Minnesota for their defense in the 4th, ‘cuz even when Wemby got a touch of the ball after some misses, they kept harassing him, not letting anything easy. So, down by 7 with a minute and a half remaining, the Spurs desperately needed a bucket. And while focused on Wemby inside, the Wolves forgot to box out Champagnie who was able to put back the layup. And after a couple of free throws by Rudy on the other end which he splitted, there goes the same story again. Too focused on the Alien to remember they need to box out the other guys as well.
