Описание: Halo Teman Teman! How you doin' guys? Today I went to Philly to have some Indonesian food from Jembatan 5.

➤ Sayur Lodeh - Vegetable Curry Soup $5.95 - Vegetables simmered in coconut milk soup.
Just wow. Hands down my favorite Indonesian soup – easily! It was raining outside and it was on the cooler side. Had this piping bowl of coconut curry soup with mixed veggies – every check was marked off: comfort, yummy, creamy, coconutty, sweet, warm, feeling cozy… I can go on and on! It had a mix of veggies in there – couldn’t ID all of them but there were string beans, eggplants, chayote, corn, and some more. This was my favorite dish today – shocked at myself because I’m a carnivore and this is 100% vegetarian! So delicious – get this NOW!



➤ Bakwan Jagung $4.95 - Corn and shrimp battered and fried.

Corn and veggies deep fried with like a ground shrimp/puree filling – sounds yummy? That’s because it is! It wasn’t super crunchy as I initially thought but it was still good nonetheless. Reminded me of shrimp jeon (Korean shrimp fritters). The sweet chili sauce was sweet and delicious – nothing out of the ordinary however the sambal that I had with it was great! It was super spicy with a decent flavor of fermented shrimp – stinky and spicy – love it! Mixing both sauces is a must! Great appetizer!


➤ Ayam Rica Rica - Spicy Chicken $10.95 - Chicken simmered in spices, herbs, and hot chili peppers.
OK wow, so this was a pleasant surprise. These chickens were pan-seared and then sauteed in a pan full of hot chilis and some other spices. It was a tomato-based sauce that had a very slight sweetness to it with a nice heat to it. Nothing overly powerful – this is one of those dishes where most people will enjoy this. What really surprised me was the fact that my mom makes a chicken dish very similar to this (called dakdoritang). Loved this dish especially with the rice – it’s always great to balance out the savory with the rice. Very delicious – would recommend to anyone!


➤ Teh Botol $2.50 – Jasmine Tea
I had pretty much finished most of my food when I had this iced cold tea. I nearly finished the whole drink in one take. The only thing that stopped me was the drink being too cold so I had to stop drinking it haha. It was pretty tasty – not too sweet, really smooth, and had a nice fragrance to it. Nothing extraordinary here but it was a nice refreshing drink. Get it if you’re into tea.


➤ Kwetiau Goreng Sapi – Stir-Fried Flat Noodle Beef $8.95 - Kwetiaw.
These noodles were delicious and especially wide and long. So that means the noodle can pick up more of the sauces and flavors of the pan while sauteeing. There was this slight oil layer that was left in my tongue while chewing/swallowing – I love this. It’s a pleasant coating that sets the tone of the flavor of the entire dish. The beef taste was there throughout and integrated well with the kecap manis base (soy sauce). The slices of beef were a bit dry but tender at the same time. Overall not bad, but nothing extraordinary.


What a fantastic experience - yet again! I'm really enjoying Indonesian food and every time I have it, I learn something new. Thanks so much for Howard and Nadia for graciously allowing me to film - check them out! Food was great and you can really taste their passion. Let them know I sent you!
