Sad News: Bunny “Striker” Lee Tribute

Описание: In a week that also brought farewells to guitar hero Eddie Van Halen and singer Johnny Nash (a key figure in bringing Bob Marley to wider attention), news came out on Oct. 6, 2020 that prolific reggae producer Bunny "Striker" Lee (so nicknamed for his prowess in releasing hit songs) had passed away at the age of 79...one of the most charismatic and accomplished figures in Jamaican music, Lee parlayed his natural charisma, business savvy and ear for music into a massive body of work that challenged all rivals from the late 1960's onward and is still being excavated by reissue labels to this day. Along the way "the Gorgon" (another nickname) launched the flying cymbals style of rhythm, developed the UK market as an extension of the Jamaican scene, and paved the way for dub with his close friendship with King Tubby, working with countless artists and recording an endless series of iconic tracks.
