The Gray Havens - "Train Station" Animatic

A few years ago, I discovered a wonderful Christian band known as The Gray Havens. Now, I am a very visual-audio person, so whenever I listen to a song I try to construct a visual for it in my head. I wouldn't go so far as to say I have synesthesia, but I none the less get flooded with tons of video/animation bunnies because of this habit. As such, finding The Gray Havens with their narrative, storytelling style of music was finding an absolute gold mine of visual ear candy for me! One day, as I listened to one of my favorite tracks, "Train Station", I got the idea for this animatic. And I realized, "Hey! This is actually within my current skill level and means to create! I could actually MAKE this!" And so, having never animated a thing in my life before, I set about the long 3 year process of storyboarding/drafting the key frames, animating, adding, editing, polishing, tweaking, until FINALLY it was ready to be uploaded.

I guess you could say I finished this back in April, 2018. I decided to submit an edit of the rough draft (which I plan to maybe upload later) as my audition in my school's talent show with the promise that the final thing would be ready in time for the actual performance.
I finished it about half an hour before the show started. ^_^'
I swear, it's only thanks to the prayers of various friends and family that I made it to home plate in time. But because I had to scramble to finish the ending, there were some things I didn't get around to doing, and my inner perfectionist kept me tweaking and tweaking and tweaking until NOW.

And thus, here it is! The final, finished product! Even if I look back on some parts of this and cringe, I am so thankful to God for ushering me into this experience. I learned so much, and it felt SO good to finally get one of a hundred ideas out of my head and into the real world. It is my hope and prayer to get this tribute to The Gray Havens in some way as my gift to them and to let them know just how big of a blessing they've been in my life. It is even more so my prayer that this animatic will be another arrow gently pointing those who see it to the True Conductor who already has a real ticket ready and waiting for them.
