A German police officer told a pro-Palestine protester in Berlin on Saturday that it is forbidden to say “free Palestine, from the river to the sea” and told her to stop saying it or she will be arrested.This comes amid a widespread crackdown by German authorities on pro-Palestine and anti-Israel voices.
Following the announcement of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas in October last year, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said “there is no reason anymore to demonstrate for Palestinians in Germany”. At least 480 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since the ceasefire went into effect.
