AMORES DE POETAS is an intercultural reinterpretation of Robert Schumann’s complete song cycle Dichterliebe Op. 48, conceived as a dialogue between German Romanticism and a modern Latin American perspective on love.
The introspective Romantic voice of Heinrich Heine — shaped by the 19th-century German Lied tradition — is placed in conversation with the poetry of Chilean Nobel Prize laureate Gabriela Mistral, whose writing offers a powerful feminine and distinctly Latin American vision of love, longing and emotional depth.
At the core of the project lies improvisation.
Through the artistic voice of pianist Bert van den Brink, jazz becomes a structural force within the performance. Harmonic expansion, rhythmic freedom and spontaneous interaction transform Schumann’s cycle into a living dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, between written form and creative freedom.
In this space, German Romanticism does not disappear — it encounters another voice.
A dialogue unfolds between continents, centuries and perspectives.
