Silky Oaks Lodge - 2022 Daintree - 10th Wedding Anniversary

Описание: Second stop for our 10th Wedding Anniversary North Queensland trip.
After we returned from Mount Mulligan Lodge to Cairns we picked up a hire car and drove up the beautiful Captain Cook Highway to our accommodation for the next 3 nights. We stayed at the awesome Silky Oaks Lodge right on the Mossman River in the Daintree Rainforest.
We were privileged to stay at this this amazing place and respectfully acknowledge the Kuku Yalanji people, the Traditional Owners of the land of which we stayed and explored and the Elders both past and present.
While at Silky Oaks Lodge the facilities and staff were amazing. The food and service were awesome. We stayed in a Riverhouse overlooking the Mossman River. Each afternoon we spent swimming and Kayaking in the very refreshing Mossman River.
On the first full day we visited Mossman Gorge. First up we did the Ngadiku Dreamtime Walk conducted by the local Indigenous people (organised through the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre). This was awesome. We would highly recommend it. When that was finished we did the Rainforest Circuit Track self-guided walk and then finished with a quick dip in Mossmon Gorge to freshen up.
On our second full day we headed up to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree. A summary of the places we visited and would definitely suggest for a day trip are:
Daintree River Ferry Crossing (kind of mandatory to get over the river)
Walu Wugirriga (Mount Alexandra lookout)
Madja Boardwalk
Dubuji Boardwalk onto Myall Beach
Kulki Boardwalk and Cape Tribulation Beach
Lunch at Mason's Cafe and tried their Road Kill burger - it was pretty good.
Swim in Emmagen Creek (Less crowded than Mason's Swimming Hole. Yes, there are crocodile warning signs at Emmagen Creek near the road crossing. However, if you continue up a little further upstream, you’ll find another great, croc-free swimming hole complete with crystal-clear water and a rope swing.
After we begrudgingly checked out on our way back to Cairns we stopped in at 4 Mile Beach Lookout at Port Douglas, Rex Lookout on the Captain Cook Highway, had lunch at Nu Nu at Palm Cove (would highly recommend this - awesome food and an awesome view) and then killed some extra time by driving up the Kuranda Range to Barron Falls (Din Din) to cap of another awesome break.
