We climbed Chimborazo (6,263m / 20,548 ft) the highest mountain in Ecuador and the closest point on Earth to the sun due to the planet’s equatorial bulge.
This high-altitude expedition took us onto massive glaciers, steep snow slopes, and into thin air above 6,000 meters. Chimborazo is often considered one of the most challenging climbs in the Andes and a serious test piece for anyone preparing for 8,000m peaks.
After turning around on Cotopaxi due to dangerous weather, this climb was about redemption, resilience, and continuing the process.
Every expedition is part of a bigger goal training for Mount Everest and my long-term objective to become only the second Australian to complete all fourteen 8,000m peaks, and the first Australian to complete both the 14 Peaks and the Seven Summits.
This is real high-altitude mountaineering alpine starts, glacier travel, and pushing through extreme conditions.
