THE LEFT SIDE PERSPECTIVE IS THE IMPORTANT ONE. I TAKE OVER FOR PLAYER 2 WHEN THE RUN IS DONE ON PLAYER 1.
so yeah. this idea worked better than i could have even dreamed. by entering two-player mode, i can have player 2 idle, or screw around if there's actually a player 2. the key thing is that the second rider in your race won't hit the button after the select warp on laps 2 & 3, which was a matter of luck when left up to the AI. i don't know about anyone else, but i found that the odds HEAVILY favored the AI hitting that button and slowing me down.
this reduces the luck factors to (1) the fan placing you anywhere from left to right at the start of laps, (2) the doors that may rotate in your way (as it did on the first lap in this run), and (3) the cycle of the moving bumpers after the doors.
even with that AI factor removed, it's still super crazy that i jumped from 2:28.52 to this! idk how much better it can get
