This is our favourite upgrade to date! We've finally completed the transformation, turning salvaged America's Cup mast sections into a full carbon fiber front end for our catamaran. In this video, you'll see the final piece of the puzzle: the custom carbon bow pole.
Watch as we tackle the final fit-out, including a crucial lesson on preventing galvanic corrosion between carbon and metal (a mistake that can destroy fittings in just days). We also share a few secret techniques for potting screws and working with pre-preg carbon in tight spaces.
It's incredibly satisfying to see this reclaimed high-modulus carbon get a brilliant second life and become such a functional part of our boat.
You'll see:
The finished bow pole installation
Why Tef-Gel is essential for carbon/metal connections
The final paint job and prep for the trampoline
A behind-the-scenes look at the final touches
This bow pole is the final piece of our custom carbon beam and longeron system. It's been a huge project, and the results are spectacular!
