Superintendent's Message: Raising the Pan-African Flag

Описание: Dr. Chris Hurst, Superintendent of WCCUSD and the Office of African American Student Achievement (OAASA) led the effort to raise the Pan-African flag at all schools and at the district office for the first time in the district's history!

The flag's colors represent the blood that unites all African people (Red), the skin color of the first humans and civilizers of Earth (Black), and the fertile land of the continent which gave birth to humanity (Green).

The symbolic raising of the flag is meant to also serve as a reminder of the district's commitment to raising the academic achievement, college and career readiness, and social-emotional well-being of its African American students.

¡Dr. Chris Hurst, Superintendente de WCCUSD y la Oficina de Logros Estudiantiles Afroamericanos (OAASA) de WCCUSD lideró el esfuerzo de levantar la bandera panafricana en todas las escuelas y en la oficina del distrito por primera vez en la historia del distrito!

Los colores de la bandera representan la sangre que une a todos los pueblos africanos (Rojo), el color de la piel de los primeros humanos y civilizadores de la tierra (Negro), y la tierra fértil del continente que dio origen a la humanidad (Verde).

La levantada simbólica de la bandera también sirve como un recordatorio del compromiso del distrito de aumentar el rendimiento académico, la preparación universitaria y profesional y el bienestar socioemocional de sus estudiantes afroamericanos.
