Farberware 2-4 Cup Percolator | Unboxing and Tasting | Is This How Coffee Used to Taste?

Описание: This is actually from 2019. Hopefully my videos have improved a bit since then, but maybe some rookie magic is still intact from not being as sterile in my presentation. I wanted to try out a tiny percolator to accommodate my tiny studio/efficiency apartment at the time. I don't think I mentioned anything in the video about how it tasted. Yeah, I said it tasted good, but I don't think I was really letting on just how good that first cup tasted. And the aroma in the air was awesome. Granted, I don't think you get this result every time. I might have had the right beans and the right method at the right time, when it was a new experience, highlighting it even more. The coffee is much hotter than your typical drip. Even hotter than a Technivorm Moccamaster I would say. I didn't put a temp prob to it in this video, but I'm thinking it's a little over the 195 to 205 mark. I used this percolator for quite a span of time and then haven't used it as much lately. Although I will say, prior to finally uploading this video, I did take it out and use it again. I like it that the coffee is sooooo hot, but then again, it's so hot that you really can't taste the flavors coming through - even after you put cream in - until some time later. Have I ever produced a bitter cup? Yeah, probably....but even some of that taste stuff is subjective. I think even a coarser grind could help with that. Starting with actual cold water from the fridge may help too. The owner's manual actually calls for fresh cold tap water. I have some paper filters for this too, and have tried them. I don't really have a strong opinion on using filters vs not. If I'm using this, sometimes I want the oil coming through. There was a sweet oily flavor I experienced from using this the first time that I found hard to replicate to the same extent again, although I can usually manage to get a hint of it to present itself in my cup. I don't know if it was the Sumatra beans I was using at the time or what. Or if it was just a flavor I hadn't experienced in a very long while and now I've grown reaccustomed to it? Anyway, nice cute coffee maker for a tiny space or maybe it's just the fact that you don't want to make 8 to 10 cups of coffee and you want a coffee maker of a perculator that is specifically meant for smaller size portions. This would be the one for you. I don't think I've seen it in the stores, I had to order though Amazon. I think the smallest ones similar to this that I've seen in the stores were more in the 2-6 cup range.

The main takeaway that I should have mentioned, but didn't, is that when you pour your hot coffee into a thermos or tumbler, it's going to stay hot a whole lot longer. And you might even have to be careful, even after adding sugar and cream, even a significant time later.
