Cooking Turkish halva & bread at Prosfygika #3

Описание: Not so long ago, myself and a colleague visited a Turkish Refugee family living in Prosfygika. I had the pleasure of cooking and eating traditional Halva with Fatma, and discussing her experience of living within the Prosfygika community.

Often misunderstood by members of the public and passers by, Prosfygika has been a place of refuge for those in need (both Greek and foreign) for almost 85 years. Composed of 228 apartments, the 8 buildings that make up Prosfygika hold an incredibly rich history, with each inhabitant and apartment having their own unique story. Maintained by the inhabitants of Prosfygika, the buildings continue to be a testament to the strength of community values.

The residents, coming from various countries, are by and large, able to put aside their differences with the aim of bettering the lives of their neighbors as well as themselves. Prosfygika is truly a welcoming place and an inspiration to what can be achieved and maintained amongst an incredibly diverse group of individuals.
