Welcome back to the channel for another edition of the Festival Fix! Today, we are diving into the heart of the city for one of the most vibrant celebrations of the year: CelticFest Vancouver 2026. This live stream journey takes us from the bustling corners of the West End all the way to the rhythmic energy of the Vancouver Art Gallery's North Plaza. We’re exploring the sights, sounds, and—most importantly—the tastes of Celtic culture right here in BC. 🇨🇦☘️
Our afternoon began at the intersection of Robson and Bute, soaking up the neighborhood energy before making our way through Robson Square. The square was alive with a Pop-Up Market, showcasing local vendors and incredible community spirit. It’s always a treat to see how our public spaces transform during these festival weekends, providing a perfect lead-in to the main event at šxwƛ̓ənəq Xwtl'e7énḵ Square (the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery). 🏙️✨
Once we arrived at CelticFest, the atmosphere was electric. We were treated to traditional Celtic dancing that showcased incredible precision and heritage. Of course, no festival visit is complete without a stop at the food trucks! I headed straight for the Cracked On Food Truck to try their famous Guinness Beer Battered Fried Chicken Sando. The crunch was perfection, and that subtle hint of Guinness in the batter really elevated the flavor. It is definitely a must-try for any food lover attending the fest! 🍗🍺
For those curious about the roots of this celebration, the Celtic Festival honors the heritage of the Celtic nations. While many people think primarily of Ireland or Scotland, there are traditionally seven Celtic nations recognized for their distinct languages and cultural ties: Ireland (Éire), Scotland (Alba), Wales (Cymru), Brittany (Breizh), Cornwall (Kernow), the Isle of Man (Mannin), and Galicia (Gallaecia). Some also include Asturias due to its deep Celtic roots. These regions share a "living" Celtic language or a powerful cultural legacy that we get to see reflected in the music and dance today. 🎻🌍
After all that excitement, I took a quick detour to Granville Street for a caffeine recharge at Slo Coffee. I opted for their deliciously dark chocolate flavored Mocha, and it did not disappoint. The toasty, rich flavor was exactly what I needed to power through the rest of the afternoon. There’s something about a well-crafted mocha that makes a city stroll even better, especially when the weather is just right for a warm, comforting drink. ☕️🍫
The highlight of the return trip to the festival was undeniably catching Jocelyn Pettit and her band. Seeing them perform live was such a treat—they blended amazing traditional Celtic music with original songs that had the whole crowd moving. The energy of their set was infectious and perfectly captured why CelticFest is such a staple for Vancouver’s March calendar. We wrapped up the day with a stroll toward the West End, catching the bus at Robson and Burrard to meet up with friends. 🎶🙌
