In this piece, I explored the allegory of the wasteland and the bloom. The poem captures the moment where spiritual exhaustion meets grace; it is about the restorative religious power of a presence that shields and heals. By blending the imagery of earthly devotion with celestial visions, I wanted to illustrate how one person can become the threshold to a much larger, divine peace.
To my desert rose...
Oh, my sweet thorny desert rose,
upon you I stumbled that dawn,
through nothingness I wandered,
and all my hope was long time gone.
From your petals I drank the dew,
kissing your lovely pink flower,
restoring fate in life and love,
regaining my weakened power.
In your shadow, I fell asleep,
and dreamt of heavenly gardens,
where angels I met, knelt and wept,
asking for blessings and pardons.
But when I woke up, you were there,
still sweet, gentle and caring,
patiently watching over me,
under the Sun you were glaring.
Oh, my sweet thorny desert rose,
in my heart now you live and thrive,
for your joy, peace and happiness,
as long as live I will strive.
