Bruce Springsteen surprised fans this week by releasing a new song called "Streets of Minneapolis.”
“I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday, and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free, Bruce Springsteen," he wrote in his post announcing the release.
Springsteen has a long history of documenting the American experience and speaking out in times of political strife. The title of his new track reflects his 1994 song “Streets of Philadelphia,” in which he sang about the hardship and isolation of individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
Generation after generation, he continues to deliver socially and politically conscious anthems that reflect the story of Americans across the country.
