How To STOP Feather Pecking in Your Flock| STOP a Bully Chicken

This video focuses on a problem we've been having within our flock for some time now. We moved to a new home towards the end of summer, right when MOLT season was approaching. The move on top of molt season, and our inability to free range the chickens safely on the new property definitely created a lot of stress on our chickens.

We had to separate our rooster for a few months since he was the victim of severe feather pecking with all of his new feather growth during his molt.During the time we had our rooster separated, one hen took on the role of bully chicken/ top hen and began to feather peck everyone quite severely. We're forced to separate her for a while from the others until they can grow their feathers back and she can be knocked down a bit on the pecking order. Hopefully this will curb her feather pecking. Thankfully, she is the ONLY hen who is plucking feathers from others, so this problem is easy to isolate.

We are backyard chicken keepers with nine ISA Brown hens and one Black Australrop rooster. We used to have 12 ISA Brown hens, but lost a few due to predator attacks. We began keeping chickens two years ago and have been in love with them ever since. Our flock was allowed to free range on our previous property for about a year and a half. We did recently move to a new location that unfortunately we have seen many different predators that could potentially attack our flock. Therefore, we no longer free range our flock.
