The designers behind Wendy Jim are not, as one might assume, named Wendy and Jim.

This is one of many misconceptions that Wendy Jim has been quietly proving wrong, one collection at a time.

Founded by Helga Ruthner and Hermann Fankhauser in 1999, the duo “met” while studying fashion design under Helmut Lang at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

But the real first time Helga met Hermann was on a children’s criminal TV show: he played the role of a policeman while Helga competed.
