Exploring the ghost town of Penn Haven, Pennsylvania

After a brief visit to the ghost town of Penn Haven last month, I was yearning for another visit when I had time to explore it more. On a beautiful fall day, I biked from Glen Onoko to Penn Haven Junction to see if I could find any remains of the former railroad town.
The town evolved over the years since they started mining coal there in 1850. At various points in time, it had incline planes for the mine cars, a hotel, a rail station, a signal tower, a turntable, and an engine maintenance building. It went into decline in the 1950s and gradually faded away. I'm still researching its history, but finding information is a challenge.
This is one of Carbon County's most remote locations. It's 6 1/2 miles north of Glen Onoko, 6 1/2 miles south of Rockport, and 5 miles east of Weatherly. The only way to legally access it right now is to bike along the D&L Trail from Glen Onoko or Rockport.
