Hume Lake Campground is located in the Sequoia National Forest, and is set within the beautiful pine forests of the Sierra Nevada.

This is one of several national forest campgrounds in the Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park areas.

If you don't mind a little commuting, this would be an excellent alternative to camping in the national parks.

We did not spend the night here ourselves and only did the drive through, but it looks to us that this campground has plenty of sites with good shade and privacy. They space them out better than they do in the national parks, where they love to cram site after site.

The next time we visit this area, chances are we will opt to stay in the national forest and not inside the parks, although our time at Sunset Campground inside Kings Canyon was not bad.
