DIY Photography Studio Canvas Backdrop

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

9x12 heavy weight canvas drop cloth (from hardware store)
Plastic sheeting to keep paint from seeping through
I gallon of matte house paint in light pink
1 quart of matte house paint in a darker pink
Paint roller with extension arm
(optional) textured sponge roller
(optional) spray bottle to keep paint wet (for a more blended look)

STEPS:

1. Iron canvas to remove wrinkles
2. lay out plastic sheeting in a flat area
3. lay canvas over sheeting, secure ends with tape or a heavy object
5. using paint roller with extension, paint entire canvas surface lighter color
6. dilute darker color with water (about 50:50) and apply using sponge roller or paintbrushes
7. experiment with different techniques to get your desired look - try sponges, cloth, wet on wet, wet on dry
8. when you're happy with the final product, attach to a 10 foot, 2" PVC pipe and roll
9 secure with remaining plastic
