Faith and Reason

Описание: With the arrival of the Three Wise Men, the completed manger scene reflects two complementary ways to approach Christ. The shepherds are moved by faith (revelation) whereas the Magi are led by reason. The goal of both is the same: to adore the Blessed Lord. We need both; a lack of one can injure the other. A lack of reason can lead to false pietism that is easily deceived. One accepts something just because another says so, but what authority said it? Reason without faith results in rationalism with man refusing to believe God is capable of anything man can't understand. Reason must be infused by Faith, and Fatih is always intelligible and never self-contradictory. We see both of these at work in the Solemn Rite of Mass. Here all the parts of our soul come to adore Our Lord, just as the animals, shepherds and kings all gather to adore the Incarnate God who lies by His Blessed Mother.
