This video is about differences (comparison) on a perfect mono synthesizer that you have seen in class, and a virtual substractive synthesizer. There hundreds of free VSTi plugins of this type, but we're going to use in this case we're going to use the free one called Subduer b6 (you can find it here: http://www.majken.se/index.php?option...) and the use of it in the VSTHost utility (you can find it here: http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vs... ).
Also, I invite you to take a look at the following video that talks about substractive synthesis, that is: analogue synths, and in particular to talk about the ladder filter and its famous Moog synth that created sounds in the 60's that were used in many different music styles.
