Using native plants in our gardens is ecologically important, but designing with natives can be challenging. This webinar will help you be inspired by the possibilities and learn how to create beautiful and stellar native landscapes for your communities and your own back yard! Bonnie Rosenthall, president of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, has presented her members statewide with the challenge of re-designing their garden projects using at least 50% native plants. (This webinar is an online version of the talk that was to be presented in March and had to be postponed due to the corona virus situation.)


Presenter Amanda Sloan, RLA, ASLA, has been a fan of native plants since growing up in the woodlands of Lexington, Massachusetts. Amanda earned a Certificate in Landscape Design from the Landscape Institute and then became a registered landscape architect. Her projects over more than 25 years of practice include the design, with Julie Messervy, of Weezie’s Garden at Elm Bank, and many private and civic native plant gardens. She was president of the Sharon Garden Club and served on the boards of COGdesign, the Community Design Resource Center of Boston and Grow Native Massachusetts. She is currently on the board of trustees at the Ecological Landscape Alliance. Amanda specializes in designing native plant rain gardens.
