Mallon explains that when a vehicle reaches the end of its usable life or is damaged in an accident beyond repair, it is brought to an auto recycling facility. There, the vehicle is fully deconstructed and all parts that can still function are harvested for resale and reuse. Parts that cannot be reused are recycled into raw materials. This comprehensive process helps maximize the total usable life of all components of a vehicle.

According to Mallon, auto recycling plays an essential role in reducing waste and pollution. By reusing or recycling as much of a vehicle as possible, fewer raw materials and less energy are needed to manufacture new parts and vehicles. Auto recycling also helps lower costs for vehicle owners, as the used parts made available for resale are often more affordable than new components.

Mallon emphasizes that the goal of any reputable auto recycling facility should be achieving maximum sustainability. ACM Parts aims to reuse or recycle over 95% of materials from every vehicle they process. Through efficient recycling and remanufacturing, auto recyclers can help ensure that even at the end of a vehicle's life, the environmental impact is minimized and cost-savings for consumers are maximized."
