Here's a little tip to help save you some money on the repair of a 48 inch or 54 inch mower deck on a John Deere X300 or X500 series lawn and garden tractor. If the bearings fail in the double pulley assembly on your deck, John Deere makes you replace the entire cast iron arm with the bearings and spacer already installed. This complete arm assembly costs over $60. But you can easily replace just the bearings in your original arm for way less than the cost of the complete new arm.
