Take a deep breath.Within just six minutes without air, human life begins to fade.Air is essential. Without it, there is no life.
We all share the same air.And that means we all have the power to protect—or pollute—it.
In 1963, the United States passed the Clean Air Act to fight air pollution on a national scale.Later, in 1977, Capitol Reef National Park was designated a Class I airshed,a recognition given only to the most pristine airspaces—offering it the highest level of protection.
But threats to our air are everywhere:power plant emissions, car exhaust, smoke from campfires or wood stoves, and industrial pollution.The damage is shared by all of us—loss of scenic views, eye and lung irritation, and harm to our health.
The National Park Service is responsible for preserving, protecting, and improving air quality.But this is not a task for one agency alone.We all share the responsibility.

1963년, 미국은 전국적인 대기 오염을 통제하기 위해**‘청정 대기법(Clean Air Act)’**을 제정했습니다.그리고 1977년, 캐피톨 리프 국립공원은**최고 등급의 공기질 보호 지역(Class I airshed)**으로 지정되어그 뛰어난 공기질을 법적으로 보호받게 되었습니다.
하지만 오늘날 공기를 해치는 요인은 매우 다양합니다.발전소의 배출가스, 차량 매연, 캠프파이어나 스토브의 연기,정유 공장의 공해까지,우리 모두가 그 영향 아래 놓여 있습니다.
이로 인해 우리는 소중한 경관을 잃고,눈이 따가워지고, 폐와 건강이 위협받습니다.
국립공원관리청(National Park Service)은이 소중한 공기를 보존하고, 보호하며, 더욱 맑게 유지할 책임이 있습니다.그리고 우리 모두는 그 책임을 함께 나누고 실천할 의무가 있습니다
