Well, I failed to mention this in the video, but building a minimal set of commands inside a CLI really helped me work out my services better and understand my application better. Writing commands forced me to call the same account and role logic outside of the web app, which made problems and gaps much more obvious.
The CLI also made testing and managing roles easier than building an admin dashboard just to do the same things. I can add and remove roles, invalidate the security stamp, and immediately see how access changes.
I originally built this to manage roles for an admin panel, which I need for file uploads, but it ended up being a useful way to reason about the application itself. I might end up doing the same thing for other CRUD style needs soon, like managing assets.
