Understanding Behavioral Health Recovery Therapeutic Modalities
Behavioral health recovery is the process of restoring and improving someone's mental health. Therapies work by helping people to understand and change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. As mentioned above, here at ATMC we use a wide variety of therapeutic modalities in order to help our clients find what works for them. Let’s take a closer look at some of Dr. Libby’s favorites.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that was developed specifically for people with borderline personality disorder. It helps people to learn how to regulate their emotions, tolerate distress, and improve their relationships.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that helps people to identify and change the thoughts and behaviors that are causing them problems. CBT can be helpful for a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, addiction, and eating disorders.

Gratitude therapy is a form of positive psychology that involves writing down or talking about things for which you are grateful. Gratitude therapy can help to improve mood, increase happiness, and reduce stress.

Mindfulness is a form of mindfulness that involves focusing on the present moment without judgment. Mindfulness can help to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and improve focus and concentration.

Cold plunges are a type of hydrotherapy that involves submerging oneself in cold water for a short period of time. Cold plunges have been shown to have many benefits, including reducing inflammation, improving mood, and reducing stress levels.

Narrative therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on storytelling and creative expression. Narrative therapy can help people to understand their life story and the role that it has played in their current difficulties.

Choice therapy is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that helps people to make healthy choices in their lives. Choice therapy can be helpful for people with addiction, eating disorders, and other behavioral health issues.

Faith-based or spiritually based therapy is a type of psychotherapy that uses religious or spiritual principles to help people achieve behavioral health recovery. Faith-based or spiritually based therapy can be helpful for people who want to address their spiritual needs as part of their recovery journey.

From equine therapy to hypnotherapy there are many other types of modalities and therapeutic treatments offered to help ensure our clients with behavioral health issues. It’s all about finding what works for the individual.
