The Korean Peninsula nuclear crisis erupted on 9th October 2006, when the DPRK conducted its first nuclear weapons test. This placed Northeast Asia in a much more complex and dangerous situation. Eleven years on, DPRK has conducted six nuclear tests and made much progress on developing missiles like the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. US President Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un’s war of words continues to escalate as both sides show off their muscles. As tensions on the divided Korean Peninsula continue to rise, what solutions are being proposed and which are the most likely to result in a peaceful resolution?
