The biggest reason to avoid the KTM 390 Adventure is the engine and perhaps the seat, specially if you ride two-up a lot. First, the engine is going to feel unrefined. This is the worst at low revs and low speeds and commuting can initially feel like a major issue. It's a rough feeling engine that vibrates the footpegs almost all of the time and it doesn't feel good. In time, this isn't a dealbreaker, but at first blush, you're not going to like it. This feeling will be powerful enough for a lot of you to look away. Second, the seat is narrow and stiff. I found that it works, but I know a lot of riders will find it hard to accept. Finally, if you plan to tour two-up, the KTM simply doesn't have as much space as the Himalayan does, or indeed, the old KTM Adventure did. I don't think this is unsolvable, but this is going to strain relationships as stock for sure, although it's fine around the city.
