Wood mice and voles are common and most people with gardens in rural areas will have them in their gardens but may not know it. Some consider voles as vermin as they like to have a nibble at almost anything to see if it's food but they are a vital source of food for other wildlife like foxes and owls. If you have a cat and it brings you a 'present', it may well be a wood mouse or a vole. Unfortunately cats kill millions of our wildlife creatures annually. not only small mammals but also birds.
