Bowen Island
Killarney Lake Walk/Hike
Bowen Island is located on the unceded, stolen lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We would like to thank the Coast Salish people and value the opportunity to learn, share and grow on this traditional territory.
This an easy year-round walk. You will be accompanied by ravens and squirrels along with the company of huge Douglas Firs and Cedar trees. No need to take your car on the ferry – just park it at Horseshoe Bay and walk-on; then from the ferry dock in Snug Cove on Bowen Island you walk to Crippen Park, and it is an easy 2 kilometre to the start of Killarney Lake. Be sure to stop in at the fish ladders on your way. Killarney Lake is a 9-kilometre loop, so allow yourself 3-4 hours. This includes a stop of 20-30 minutes to enjoy any snacks you have brought along. When you get back to Snug Cove after your walk be sure to stop in to the Snug Cove Café for a tasty latte and treat.
