In this video we describe the incredible real-life story of Dashrath Manjhi, famously known as the Mountain Man of Bihar, who carved a path through a mountain all alone using only a hammer and chisel.

Born in Gehlour village, near Gaya district, Bihar, Dashrath Manjhi belonged to a poor laborer family. His life changed forever after the tragic death of his wife Falguni Devi, who could not receive medical treatment on time because the nearest hospital was separated by a massive mountain.

After this heartbreaking incident, Dashrath Manjhi decided to cut through the mountain himself. Villagers mocked him and called him “pagal,” but for 22 years, from 1960 to 1982, he continued breaking the mountain with a hammer and chisel.

In the end, Dashrath Manjhi created a road approximately 110 meters long, 9 meters wide, and 7 meters deep through the mountain, reducing the distance between Gehlour and nearby towns from nearly 55 km to about 15 km.

Today, Dashrath Manjhi is remembered across India as a symbol of determination, love, courage, and human willpower. His story inspired movies like Manjhi: The Mountain Man, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
