A major ₹1.28-crore jewellery robbery at Punjabi actor Kuljinder Sidhu’s Sector 66 showroom has been solved — and the truth is more shocking than expected. Police have confirmed it was an inside job, with the store manager himself orchestrating the high-value heist.

After a three-week investigation, Mohali Police arrested Deepak Kumar Bhardwaj (47), the store manager who had been working at the jewellery shop for nearly four years. According to officials, he used his full access to the premises and detailed knowledge of the security system and CCTV setup to carry out the theft.

During the arrest, police recovered stolen items including:
61 gold nose pins
48 gold earrings
2 gold necklaces
2 gold bangle sets, and more valuable jewellery.

The case began on November 3, when Vikram Singh Sandhu — actor Kuljinder Sidhu’s brother and business partner — found the showroom shutter lock broken, with gold and diamond jewellery and ₹60,000 cash missing. The accused had even removed the CCTV DVR to hide evidence.

A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police later analysed CCTV footage from nearby buildings, tracked suspicious vehicle movement, and matched it with Bhardwaj’s access patterns, which ultimately led to his arrest. He has been remanded to police custody for further interrogation and recovery of the missing DVR and cash.
