To understand the evolving realities of rural life in Bangladesh, BIGD conducted an ethnographic study in 2023. That experience helped us realize that the characteristics once considered intrinsic to rural identity—particularly in studies from the 1970s and 1980s—have undergone a transformation in multiple ways across different dimensions.
In today’s era of market economies and globalization, the idea of villages as isolated from cities or from global forces no longer holds true. This documentary seeks to capture some of these changes through the lived experiences of the people of Bhabanipur and Kashipur.
