The first puppy is born and she looks at it like, “That’s not mine… right?” 😅
Newfoundlands would not survive in the wild, that is for sure. Newfie mums often try to stand up mid-birth and plop the puppies on the floor, so you better be ready to catch them, then the stare at them like, “No, that did not come from me.”
Once the litter is all here, you need to get up every couple of hours for an hour at a time to observe and help with feeds. A big, clumsy mum can accidentally lay on her puppies and it is simply not safe.
Watch along as Monroe goes through pregnancy, labour, and whelping her litter of Newfie puppies and see just how fast these little bears grow in the first two months of life.
