"Slow Heat" at the University of North Texas "75th Reunion" Concert (10/21/22).
I was very fortunate to find myself at UNT between 1986 - 1992, and it changed my life. It was a blast to get to go back to campus last fall and participate in the 75th Anniversary and Reunion of the jazz program. There, they had SEVEN One O'Clock Bands from the 60's through the 2020's, and it was incredible.
Neil Slater, the Director of the program would write a new composition for "the One" every year, and in 1992 he wrote "Slow Heat," which I had the good fortune to play on. Here is the 90's Reunion band, led by Ben Patterson.
