British Triathlon introduced a 7.00 metre rollout limit for Youth draft legal racing from the 2026 season onwards. Most of the guidance is based around Shimano gear ratios such as 36×11, but many modern bikes now use SRAM AXS electronic groupsets, which use a 10 tooth smallest sprocket.
That difference can make it confusing to ensure a bike complies with the regulations.
In this video we show how to restrict your gears correctly for British Triathlon racing when using a SRAM Rival E1 AXS drivetrain, without restricting the rear derailleur and without damaging the electronic system.
The bike was built for Bibi Abernethy, a Youth athlete racing in the British Triathlon Super Series.
Using the method shown in this video we achieved a rollout of 6.90m, safely under the 7.00m limit.
