Located 2.5 kilometers from the India-Pakistan Line of Control, in the Chorbat region of Ladakh, Thang, which is also known as Dhothang, or Thanga Chathang, is the northernmost village of India.
The village lies on the Line of Control that divides India and Pakistan. It was seized from Pakistan along with three other villages in the area during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
